Description
A critical tool within human resources and a management is known as Performance Improvement Plans, Employee Improvement Plans, or simply Improvement Plans. Whatever you prefer to call them, improvement plans can work when done right.
Think of improvement plans as a proactive measure, not a punitive action. They come into play when there’s a noticeable gap between expected and actual performance of an employee. A well-executed improvement plans is characterized by its clarity—it lays out attainable goals and a timeline within which these objectives should be met.
The aim is always to bolster performance in a supportive way. In some cases, an improvement plan can be focused on employee behavior not performance. An employee may need to participate in a training to learn the expected behavior.
